VISION STATEMENT

This will be a permanent fixture on this page.

My primary ministry in life is supporting the efforts of others! Therefore, I have been doing the community calendar overr ten years now (as of February 2008). So why is Spirit impressing upon me that I need to write a vision statement? Good question! All I know is that I first “felt” the suggestion on the way to The Gathering last night (May 2007). It came to me again on the way home; but then I started reading once I got home, my eyes got heavy, and I fell asleep. Then I wake up and it’s not even 1:00 am yet. Still I cannot get back to sleep. Here it is over two hours later; and I’m finally at the computer to write this statement.

All of my life, I have felt most fulfilled when I am serving others. That’s just the way it is. Way back into my teens I can remember my tendency that, if I saw something that needed to be done, I would pitch in and help. I didn’t have to be asked, I just did it. I guess Metagroups started that way. I was invited to the Metaphysical Singles Group, and before I knew it, I was serving on the steering committee and taking one job after another. The same thing happened with Brevard Metaphysicians, which became the Metaphysical Discovery Group. Yes, I ended up as leader in both groups; but to me, leadership means to serve. It is not about control, although I did attempt, often unsuccessfully, to impress my vision on others.

Anyway, I was doing the newsletter for each group, and would also send out email reminders to those on our mailing list who had computers. That was how Metagroups began: two local metaphysical groups that had regular events, and I was the “go to” person who did the work (and often took the criticism when I said or did something that ruffled someone’s feathers, which seems to be a penalty one gets for assuming leadership).

It wasn’t long before this member wanted me to announce their event with my notification, then another, and another. Soon, speakers and those who were not even part of our groups were asking to be included. I was doing this at least from the time I began Paradox Magazine (April 1996 was the first issue); but it was probably 1997 or 1998 before it really started to grow, which is the approximate time I credit as the beginning of what it is today. It became a Yahoo Group called Metagroups in January 2000, which still exists, though I do not use it anymore (resumed in November 2007). I stopped using it because I did not like the text only messages that went out and wanted to dress them up a bit. For about a year I simply created emails in Outlook and sent them to everyone on the list. It was getting quite large each week; and in 2005, with the help of Kishore Kattamuri, it became a webpage that has grown and grown in both size and readership.

That’s the history in a nutshell. So what about the vision?

I have to start with the word: community. That’s such a big word for me; and it goes right along with service. Without a community, whom would I serve? The question is: What is a community?

A community is a group that is held together by common experience, needs, and vision. Perhaps it is that last word that is most important. Individuals can have common experience and needs; but differing visions may actually prevent them from working together as a vibrant and living community. So what is my vision?

I see a human race that is at the crossroads. We have come to the proverbial fork in the road; and we must go in one of two directions. We can either continue down the ego path that pits one person against another; or we can choose a path of higher consciousness. It’s either competition or cooperation. I choose the latter; and in so choosing, I become one who is inclusive. My community is everyone, for the foundation of higher consciousness, to me, is the revelation that we are ONE anyway. That is our essential reality, even when we are not aware it is so.

Therefore, everything I do is as inclusive as I can make it. It is not my job to judge others. Those who are drawn, for whatever reason, to the work that I do, are my brothers and sisters. I believe that, for the most part, only those who are increasing in consciousness will really want to be a part of this spiritual community anyhow. As much as possible, I will help these by supporting them in whatever way I can. In the case of the calendar, I will list their events; and, if they have recurring events, provide them with their own listing. I don’t have to agree with everything they do or teach, I simply have to love them as I am loved: which is as I am. I choose to let God worry about the details of how to manifest that vibrant and living community. This is my part, and I will do it to the best of my ability.

Spirit impressed something upon me after I had posted this; so this paragraph is an addition. "Stop trying to build community! See the community that already exists! You don't see it when you are trying to build it; for it does not yet exist in your perception of reality. Yet it does exist; and it is real! It is eternal, for that which connects all Life cannot be severed. It is the beloved community that shines forever and cannot be created or destroyed! It is your very Life!"

Paradox Online

Recently, I added that phrase to the Food for Thought section of the community calendar. I saw it as that for some time; but hesitated putting it out there since Paradox was so controversial with so many in the past. Yet, the truth is, I have subscribers who do not live in Central Florida, or in Florida at all. Some of them used to live here and like to keep up with what is going on in our area. Others merely like the articles I post, and use the reminders to check and see what is new.

The truth is, most of what I post is stuff I am either in agreement with or it is sent to me by someone I consider a friend. It’s not as inclusive as the hardcopy magazine was; yet the principle of inclusion still applies. While I have no intention of posting pieces that spew hatred or other such divisive messages, I do intend to do exactly what I did with Paradox Magazine: challenge all of us to keep on expanding our perspective. Paradox, after all, was a “purposely provocative publication” and a “catalyst for growing people.” I often referred to myself as “an equal-opportunity sacred-cow kicker.” It’s my job, as I see it, to serve by “comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable.”

My vision of the world is that we are in the midst of massive change, an awakening that will literally change the fabric of our lives and society. Our community is being expanded in this change as we are moving from a world community to a galactic and even cosmic community. Seeing this is so important to me. Yes, we are moving into a world of conscious awareness that we are not alone in our evolution. Not only are we not alone, we are connected with a web of Life whose very foundation and essence is Love. Love serves!

I invite you to serve with me. Learn, as I am learning, to see yourself less and less as separate even as we increase in our understanding of unity and togetherness. Serve by being true to yourself while you listen to your own heart. Serve by forgiving, others and yourself, for not always measuring up to some image of perfection we use to compare. The image of perfection is not: did I get it right? Forget that. We’ve all gotten it wrong. So what? Perfection is not about being right, but about being loving. That’s listening to our hearts and being true to ourselves. Right is in the head. The trip from competetion to cooperation, from egos pulling in every which direction to a community helping one another, is the trip from the head to the heart. When we make that trip, we can all win. Until we make it, we all lose.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you, sharing my vision of wholeness that is, hopefully, leading to our common good.

I promised in early June 2007 that I would be creating income streams for myself so that I would not be in the same position when my next tax bill is due as I was in May. (See my article: MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MONEY & HOW I PAID MY TAXES ANYWAY.) This is fulfillment of that promise.

I choose to continue serving the community through this website, through the Mary Horgan Center, and by actively supporting others whose vision aligns with my own: a vision of world justice and peace (and there can be no peace without justice!) through cooperation and sharing of our lives, our love, our light, and our laughter. Together, we are co-creating this new world; and it is manifesting as many things are happening just beneath the visible radar of the mass media. The effects of these “little” things are cumulative and more powerful than many realize or understand. We are on the very threshold of Heaven on Earth, no matter what you may think you see.

We Are Community…Family

I do not need to have a lot of money, in fact, my immediate intent is to have at least $1,000 per month income (more is ok, too), which more than doubles what I have been receiving over the past several months. I live simply…by my choice. As long as God continues to enable me to maintain the Mary Horgan Center in my home and to continue serving the greater community, I am wealthy indeed. I know that would not be considered wealth for most of you; and that’s ok. All I ask is that you see me as part of your family, for I do indeed see you as part of mine. We are community. Each serves the other according to his or her gifts and willingness to share.

These are some ways you can say “Thank you” for the FREE service of the Metagroups Community Calendar, for the articles on Paradox Online, and for my work in the community. Some are ways that will bring me needed income, while others support me by simply supporting the greater community, which supports us all.

Donations

Until June 2007, I don’t remember anyone giving me a monetary donation for the work that I do in and for the community. Of course, I never asked. In June, one kind soul sent me a check for $100. That is my very first contribution of money. I specify “money” because I have been gifted with CD’s and other products a few times; and many have said, “Thank you” over the years…not that I serve in order to get something in return; but it’s always nice to know that your efforts are appreciated.

Yes, I lovingly accept contributions from anyone in the community who appreciates my efforts. In turn, I appreciate the support.

Now, the question always arises when one speaks of contributions: Are they tax-deducible? I was in the process in 2005 of establishing the Mary Horgan Center as a legally tax-exempt organization; however, since it was to cost a few thousand dollars, the lawsuit brought that to a rapid halt. So, the answer is “No” – your direct donation is not tax-deductible at this time. (But I must tell you: The IRS and the private banking establishment known as The Federal Reserve, which is neither federal nor a reserve, are both going to be history in the near future as Constitutional and Natural Law will be replacing the archaic and non-sustainable system of repression now in place. As I keep telling people, WE HAVE WON! LIGHT HAS TRIUMPHED! Full manifestation of this is coming as an avalanche of sweeping change.)

Conscious Living Partnership

In November 2006, I was invited to join the Conscious Living Partnership staff as part-time bookkeeper (my first income stream). They had honored me two months earlier by presenting me with the Heart of the Community Award in recognition of my service to the larger community. Shannon Burnett founded CLP five to six years ago with a vision to bring people together in a structure that would allow greater cooperation in the alternative healing and spiritually aware, holistic community. Not only would those within this community be able to recognize and acknowledge one another’s contributions, Business Members would offer their services to others in the community at discount, and those who did not have a related business (Consumer Discount Club Members) could take advantage of these discounts as could Business Members utilizing the services of other businesses. A question one may ask is: What, exactly is conscious living?

Perhaps the best way to define it is to talk about unconscious living, the kind we have all done in which we feel separate from everyone else, where there is often a struggle for economic survival and a competition to get our share of a limited pie. This kind of living has its very foundation in what I call separation and limitation consciousness. It’s a dog-eat-dog world where few are satisfied with what they have. It’s a non-sustainable culture where those who have the most seem to be guided by an insatiable appetite for more and more. Never content, they go about taking from those who have less. Unconscious living is revealed in capitalism at its worst; however, it is nothing more than the collective human ego (microcosm) out of balance and institutionalized (macrocosm), acting as if it is disconnected from everyone and everything else. Some really seem to thrive on and take advantage of this ugly situation that is essentially based on a lie.

Conscious living begins with a different premise, one that is true: We are all interconnected at the most essential level of our beings, the Spirit of Life Itself that flows through each and all. This Spirit of Life is Energy that is everywhere in great abundance. This Energy can be and is molded into many forms: Mother Earth herself and all the myriad of forms that appear upon and within her body…our own bodies as well. Man, too, molds this Energy, building, producing, and creating more forms and structures.

Money is also a form of Energy. While not destructive within itself, when its use fosters fear, greed, and hoarding, the result is what we see in our present, dying world (about to be reborn as a phoenix rising from the ashes).

Those who are aware of Spiritual Energy know that something is radically changing on our beautiful planet. They choose to work with this Energy in the co-creation of a sustainable, new world. Joining CLP is part of that co-creation, a living model of community in practical cooperation. Together, we are creating streams of income that will fund the new structures we are bringing into existence, structures based on mutual respect and harmony.

Shannon has agreed to pay me commissions on any new members that sign up with CLP through my website and personal contacts. This is a way you can help me while helping yourself to the benefits of a practical, living community of consciously aware people like yourself. It’s a win-win situation, as I see it, for all involved. Horizons Magazine

Over ten years ago, I worked with Andrea deMichaelis on Horizons Magazine. I wrote articles, sold advertising, and delivered the magazine to distributors in Brevard, Indian River, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia Counties. Recently, Andrea invited me to sell ads once again. As with CLP, I will earn a commission on all sales whether through direct contact or through my website.

Dream Drafting

This is my daughter Kari’s company. Besides being my best friend, she is mother of my two beautiful granddaughters, Lydia Grace (4) and Elizabeth Marie (2). She has over ten years experience in designing and drafting homes; and has agreed to pay me a commission on any new business I send her way.

From early in 1997, she worked for Designmania; but in 2002 she wanted to, and did, become a mother. I encouraged her and helped her form her own company so that she could work out of her home and take care of her family. Her former boss, who changed the name of his business to Gillian-Douglas Design Group, remains her number one customer; but she could use more projects.

Also, my son Tom is a very creative musician and person in his own right. He has over six years of experience in the same field and works for another local firm. He helps Kari from time-to-time; and if Dream Drafting were to grow, he would work more with her, making it more of a family business. I’d like to see that.

New Way ~ The Gathering ~ Sacred Community ~ Unity Churches ~ and more…

In June 2006, I became involved with Sue Bailey and the beautiful folks at the New Way. I resonate strongly with their vision, and help in any way I can. Not only do I keep their website up-to-date as best I can, I serve in many other ways to encourage and support their intent to create something new and different, to be a Light shining brightly and bringing uplifting support to those who are ready to step into their divinity and become all that they are created to be. Supporting them supports me, since I choose to be connected there.

In November (or was it December?) 2006, I attended my first Sunday Night Alive with Roalie Bianco and friends at The Boneyard/Gathering. The only Sunday night I’ve missed since was when I was having a workshop at the Mary Horgan Center in January (I still haven’t figured out how to be in two places at the same time). Again, as with the New Way, these are wonderful people of vision and creativity. My soul is fed there too; and supporting them supports me.

Elizabeth Hess Stamper is another visionary, facilitator, and healer in the community. She was honored as heart of the community in 2005, as I was in 2006. She also supports others throughout the area both with her Sacred Community notices and her presence at many events. She and her husband Mike hosted the Cosmic Mass: Love Can Build a Bridge in April 2006. I lovingly and cheerfully support the bringing together of people of the heart. Supporting Elizabeth’s efforts supports me.

I also want to give special mention to the Unity Churches in our area. The message of Unity is inclusion! There is not a more important focus: WE ARE ONE! Beth Head and Rose Whitham do an outstanding job of serving the greater community. I applaud them and their work. Supporting them supports me.

Others, too numerous to mention in the allotted space, are recognizing community by reaching out to everyone in general or to those among us who have special needs. They are listed in the community calendar and the links page. However, that is only the tip of the iceberg. All over the planet people are coming together in support of one another. That joining together in unity of love, respect, and concern is an unstoppable force, a world-changing power that is recreating a world in which lack becomes a distant memory. Co-operation is the key to establishing peace on earth! Let us support one another in every way possible. Namaste.
